Narcissa Nott(nee: Black) is the youngest daughter of Cygnus and Druella Black and sister to Andromeda and Bellatrix Black as well as the ex wife of Lucius Malfoy, the estranged mother of Draco Malfoy and the widow of Tiberius Nott. She also currently serves as a member of The Death Eaters Inner Circle known as Ms. Direction.

Biography[]

Family Lineage[]

Narcissa is descended from the Ancient and Noble House of Black, one of the 17 Roman magical families that relocated to Wizarding Britain after the fall of Rome, and one that has been a part of the Wizengamot since its inception. The Black Family has been noted to produce lots of witches and wizards capable in Shape Shifting Magic.

Early Life[]

Narcissa was an early supporter and follower of Voldemort, becoming a Death Eater known as Ms. Direction before she even graduated Hogwarts, back when the group was called the Knights of Walpurgis. One of her more notable actions as a Death Eater during her school days was giving her eldest sister Bellatrix Black, a then seventh year student and aspiring auror who had argued with Narcissa repeatedly about politics and the then named Knights of Walpurgis into reading Mr. Nemo’s Occlumency: A Beginners Guide in order to brainwash her into becoming Ms. Demeanour, Lord Voldemort’s personal assasin and the husband of Rodolphus Lestrange. As a graduation present for passing all her NEWTs, her parents gifted her with a potion made from the organs of a Veela, imbuing her with an artificial Veela Aura.[1]

Narcissa was the fiancée of Cladius Malfoy as part of a marriage contract between Houses Black and Malfoy. When Cladius died when he was thrown off his Abraxan whilst drunk, she agreed to marry Claudius’ younger brother Lucius Malfoy instead with whom she had a son with in 1980 named Draco Malfoy .[2]

When Aurors arrested Sirius Black, Narcissa seduced Herbert Cattermole, a ministry official who has access to seals of deceased Wizengamot Judges. She convinced him to forge a transcript for Sirius' trial (marking it with three seals to "authenticate" it), where Sirius confessed to being a Death Eater and exonerated several high-value Death Eaters, including Lucius, Tiberius Nott and others. Once done, she travelled to the Caribbean, under the alias Ariana McFlossy, with Cattermole until she got confirmation about her success. She then killed Cattermole with the Killing Curse and travelled back to England, with no-one the wiser.[3]

Book 2 - The Secret Enemy[]

Due to a letter she received from her son, Draco Malfoy, half-way through Draco's first year telling her he'll never reach her expectations whilst Harry Potter is alive, Narcissa begins scheming with Peter Pettigrew in order to kill Harry. This leads to her ordering her House Elf Mogli to summon a Doxie swarm to 4 Pivet Drive and later enchant a Bludger to grow spikes and attempt to maul Harry during a Quidditch match.[4]

However, her husband has his own schemes in place this year; sending one of Voldemort's Horcruxes to Hogwarts with Ginny Weasley in an attempt to derail her father's Muggle Protection Act. However, his plan goes wrong since the Hogwarts Wards were deactivated the previous year, causing the Diary to run wild and start petrifying students.[5]

After Draco is petrified, the marriage between Lucius and Narcissa falls apart due to strain. Lucius (unaware of his roll in the petrification) implies that he initially suspects Narcissa of being involved, suggesting her method of parenting might not have been the most pleasant. The pair eventually file for divorce, a move almost unheard of among Pureblood wizards. During the divorce, both offer to house Draco. Due to Lucius' increased role in Draco's political education that year, Draco chooses Lucius. This leads Narcissa to effectively disown Draco, stating "she can always have more sons".[6]

She later sends Mogli to derail the Hogwarts Express in one last attempt on Harry's life, as well as kill Draco. This attempt is foiled by Dobby however, who slays the elf before anyone is ever the wiser.[7]

Book 3 - The Death Eater Menace[]

She visits a Muggle who turns out to be Barty Crouch Jr. who is hiding inside a false persona using Occlumency. She wakes him from this self-induced amnesia and recruits him for a project, along with Tiberius Nott, who she manipulates with her Allure. This project is likely the resurrection of Lord Voldemort, as the pair kidnap a pregnant witch, with the promise that her child will be "the most important child in the world".[8]

Physical Appearance[]

Narcissa is described as stunningly beautiful and young-looking for her age; a fact that can be attributed to the Veela Allure she acquired after Hogwarts.

Personality & Traits[]

She displays several sociopathic personality traits including narcissism, callously abandoning Draco Malfoy for merely picking Lucius over her in the divorce and showing no remorse or concern over placing him in lethal situations twice, both with Mogli’s attempt to derail the Hogwarts Train and the 1994 Quidditch World Cup Incident. She is also highly manipulative, showcased through her seduction of Herbert Cattermole, Johnny Janowsky, and Tiberius Nott. She also displays impulsive homicidal tendencies, showcased most prominently by her attempt to murder Harry Black in June 1993 with no regard for the hundreds of school children that would have died as collateral damage and the adverse affect Jim Potter’s death would’ve had on her long term plans with Peter Pettigrew.

Magical Abilities & Skills[]

Veela Aura[]

Narcissa is known to produce an artificial Veela Allure. This is the effect of a potion containing the organs of a Veela she drank. The potion was a gift from her parents for passing all of her NEWTs.[1] She has since utilised this Aura to great effect; pressuring her husband into becoming a Death Eater, seducing a Ministry Official into forging false trial transcripts,[3] and manipulating Tiberius Nott to allow her access to his wealth.[9]

Canon Divergence[]

Canon-Narcissa is a Pureblood bigot who is quite fine with supporting violence behind the scenes. While she was quite happy to support Voldemort via supplies and finances, as well as voice her support for his politics, she left the more violent aspects of Voldemort's campaign to her husband. It is even hinted that she was not a Death Eater, just a supporter, as she did not appear alongside her husband upon Voldemort's rebirth. She is also fiercly loyal and protective of her family, Draco in particular. She goes so far as to pressure Severus Snape into making an Unbreakable Vow to protect Draco in the sixth book and lying to Voldemort about Harry's demise in the seventh.

POS-Narcissa is very different to her Canon counterpart. She displays no aversion to violence and killing, as we see her casually kill a Muggle who complained about her loud 'nighttime activities' as well as discover her role in the murder of a Ministry functionary right after the end of the First Wizarding War.[3]

POS-Narcissa is the Voldemort supporter of the Malfoy household, holding almost no loyalty to her family. In fact, Lucius' own support to Voldemort is revealed to come only under some form of duress, which is likely Narcissa's Veela Allure. When Lucius turns on Voldemort due to the reveal of his Horcruxes, Narcissa divorces him, taking 75% of Malfoy's wealth with her.[10] Even her relationship with Draco is different, with POS-Narcissa only viewing Draco as a tool to further her own agenda. Once Draco disobeys her and moves in with his father, Narcissa washes her hands of him with no hesitation, later attempting to have him killed alongside Harry.[6]
